
Science meets the challenges
According to the latest data, 573,911 patients with various neurological pathologies were registered among the adult population, an increase of 61,261 compared to 2023. 164,000 cases of nervous system diseases were detected among young people aged 14 to 28, including five patients with Parkinson's disease and 165 with multiple sclerosis, and 50 new cases were registered with myasthenia gravis (an autoimmune neuromuscular disease). Of particular concern is the increase in the number of reported cases of nervous system diseases among children under 17 years of age – more than 60,000, of which almost 25,000 were detected for the first time. Over the past year, 1,656 children have been diagnosed with epilepsy for the first time, 32 with myasthenia gravis, and 19 with multiple sclerosis.

Dopamine Happiness: how not to fall into the trap of addiction
This issue was raised by the participants of the 26th annual scientific and practical conference on nervous diseases. The forum was dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Kazakh National Medical University. Sanjar Asfendiyarov and the 90th anniversary of Professor Smagul Koishibayev, author of the first textbook on neurology in Kazakh.
